Kochi: The extension of Kochi Metro to Thykoodam has opened up new possibilities of connectivity for people travelling from far-flung areas to Cochin international airport at Nedumbassery. People travelling from parts of Kottayam, Ernakulam, Alappuzha and even Kollam who cross Vyttila to reach the Cochin international airport will benefit from Kochi Metro touching Vyttila Mobility Hub.

According to Aravind J who hails from Kayamkulam and works with a private firm in Kochi, one needs to take a an online taxi only up to Aluva from the airport and then catch Kochi Metro to reach Vyttila Hub from where a lot of private and KSRTC buses are available to different destinations in parts of Ernakulam, Kottayam, Idukki, Alappuzha and Kollam districts. "Those who land now in buses from these parts at Vyttila Mobility Hub to reach the airport also will have the option of travelling up to Aluva in Kochi Metro and then either take a taxi or bus to the airport. Those having less luggage will have always these options of cheaper yet comfortable travel," he said.

With KSRTC increasing the connectivity to the airport, passengers can catch a bus from the airport to Aluva Metro station and then proceed in Kochi Metro to reachVyttila Mobility Hub from where they can catch a bus to their final destinations. "Travel in Kochi Metro spares a passenger of the trouble of negotiating the traffic blocks until Vyttila," said Aparna K, a techie working in Infopark who resides in Cherthala. "I understand that feeder bus services to Aluva Metro station from the airport is are being considered which will make matters even simpler and better for the passengers," she said.
