Thrissur: Plan to ease traffic at Puzhakkal soon
Akkara said concrete dividers will be build in a month to prevent the crossing of the vehicles.
Thrissur: With the new plan to build a divider and a mini roundabout near the Puzhakkal paddy fields on Thrissur-Kunnamkulam-Guruva--yur highway shaping up, the issue of traffic snarl in the area existing for several years now is all set to end.
At present, it take vehicles nearly one to one-and-a-half hours at peak time to pass through the area as vehicles coming from the Thrissur side crosses the two-lane road to enter the Sobha City and mall with multiplex theatre.
A new bridge has been built using the MLA funds of Anil Akkara, but due to the crossing of the vehicles to the mall, only traffic from Thrissur side would ease even if this bridge is opened for traffic.
Mr Akkara said concrete dividers will be build in a month to prevent the crossing of the vehicles. A mini roundabout along with traffic signal would be set up near the Sobha City in front of the Ayyappa temple, he said.
Hopefully, the long standing issue of Puzhakkal/Shoba City traffic snarl could be solved to certain extent with the new traffic change, he said.
The new bridge with concrete tiles laid on its service roads will also help ease the traffic, Mr Akkara pointed out.
