Hyderabad: The traffic department is also focussing on behavioural changes by providing counselling to drunken drivers at the Traffic Training Institute.

The target group is youths and students. “The conviction will affect students in getting visas for higher studies in the US and the UK. We are educating students not to drive under the influence of alcohol. The excise department is also taking steps to curb drunken driving by directing bar managements to procure breath analyzers to alert drunken drivers,” officials from the traffic department said.

“Till they are released from the jail, their vehicles are kept at the nearest parking lot under the respective police station. The vehicles will be released after the approval from the police and clearing the parking fee,” the officials added.
