Mysuru: Houses for Kodagu rain victims soon, says Sa Ra Mahesh

Two bed room houses at a cost of Rs 10 lakh each will be built. Layouts will be formed with all amenities including water, roads and others.

Mysuru: The state government has sought additional funds from the Union government even as its share of compensation for crop loss would reach farmers soon, according to Kodagu district in-charge minister Sa Ra Mahesh.

He told the media here on Thursday: “The state government has released Rs 100 crores for restoration of Kodagu and rehabilitation of people affected by floods. About 50 acres land has been identified to build houses. Two bed room houses at a cost of Rs 10 lakh each will be built. Layouts will be formed with all amenities including electricity, water, roads and others. In addition, Rs 50,000 each will be given to 840 families who lost homes to manage by themselves until these houses are constructed. An additional Rs 1 lakh each will be given to families whose houses were damaged."

The minister said among key donors for restoration of affected areas are the state government employees association (Rs 100 crores), public works department (Rs 84 crores), and Infosys Foundation (Rs 25 crores).
