Reopen the case, investigate murder: Ramesh Chennithala

Palakkad: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala on Friday said the police must reopen the case related to the death of two sisters in Walayar and investigate the possibility of them being murdered.

He was speaking to reporters at Attappallam near Walayar after paying a visit to the house of the victims. Mr Chennithala also held discussions with the parents of the victims and assured them to provided legal support if necessary.

“The murder angle in the death of minor girls needs to be re-opened and the court needs to be approached with the plea to investigate the murder possibility which was overlooked by the investigation officers in the case till now,” he said. “The court has the legal provision to order an inquiry into the possibility which can be done by agencies such as the CBI.”

Mr Chennithala said it is the state government which holds the responsibility to approach the court by reopening the murder angle. “Instead of taking such an initiative, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is now asking the parents to move the high court seeking CBI inquiry,” he added.

He lashed out at the Chief Minister for not visiting the house of the accused and the arrangements allegedly made by leaders close to the Chief Minister who took the parents of the girls to Thiruvananthapuram in a car and made them touch the feet of Mr Vijayan.
