Tiruchy: Muthiraiyar memorial site cleared

Mr. Raju said the tenders for the proposed memorials will be called soon and the construction will be completed within a year.

Tiruchy: State Information minister Mr. Kadambur Raju accompanied by his cabinet colleagues Vellamandi Natarajan, Mrs. Valarmathi inspected the sites for the proposed memorials for the late freedom fighter Perumbidugu Muthiraiyar, Sir A.T. Panneerselvam, the Justice party stalwart, and popular singer and actor M.K. Thiyagaraja Bhagavathar near the Central bus stand here on Friday.

Later, Mr. Raju told newsmen that the proposed memorials (Manimandapam) will be built in an area of 2.11 acres inside the Dr K.A.P. Viswanatham Government medical college complex here, at an estimated cost of Rs two crore.
