Demonetisation: One dies in queue in Srikakulam

Sources said that a total of 7,600 pensioners were in Kaviti mandal.

Visakhapatnam: Demonetisation took its toll in Srikakulam district on Thursday where an elderly man died while standing in a queue to draw pension from outside AP Grameena Vikas Bank at Borivanka village, Kaviti mandal in Srikakulam.

Police identified the victim as Khagu Behara, 70, of Varaka of Kaviti mandal. Behara came to the bank at about 9 am on Thursday and waited in the queue. Within two hours at about 11 am, he collapsed and died in front of the bank.

Sources said that a total of 7,600 pensioners were in Kaviti mandal.  Considering the huge rush and the death of an elderly man, officials are planning to give the pension at their doorsteps.
