Liquor in Telangana all set to get costlier

There will be no increase in the price of beer and and liquor brands with base price of less than Rs 400 per case.

Hyderabad: The state government will issue orders increasing the basic price of various brands of liquor in a day or two. The increase will range from three per cent to nine per cent, resulting in a price rise of Rs 10 to Rs 25 for a quarter bottle depending on the brand.

There will be no increase in the price of beer and and liquor brands with base price of less than Rs 400 per case.

The base price of ready to drink liquor and wine in the '450 category will be increased by nine per cent.

The Telangana Association of Liquor and Beer Suppliers has been demanding the increase for two years. The government kept it pending following the of price scrutiny and recommendations made by the price negotiation committee in 2015.

Association general secretary M. Kameswar Rao said the dealers are striving hard to cater to demand despite cost escalation due to change of levies and rising input costs.
