Adivasis demand special law to ensure jobs for them
Kakinada: Adivasi Samkshema Parishad (ASP) took out a procession in Repaka village of Kunavaram mandal in Chinturu division demanding enactment of a special law under the Fifth Schedule for providing jobs to Adivasis.
Leading the procession, parishad mandal secretary Sodi Muthaiah said the Fifth Schedule had been provided in the Indian Constitution for implementing the rights of Adivasis, particularly with regard to education and medical facilities.
But non-tribal people at the helm are not implementing these rights properly.
Muthaiah underlined that in the current technological era and globalisation, there is a need to protect Adivasi traditions and customs, including their language.
Paishad leaders Minapa Nagesh, Mallam Anand, T. Nagaraju, Karam Kanna Rao and Karam Lenin were among those present.
