Hyderabad: The BJP on Monday slammed the TRS government for the horrible condition and indiscriminate digging of roads in Hyderabad. BJP legislature party leader G. Kishan Reddy staged a dharna in front of the GHMC head office along with party activists, protesting against the pathetic condition and digging of roads repeatedly in his constituency for laying of cables.
“They lay roads and dig them up. It has become a headache for the people, especially commuters. Six tractors are busy digging up the stretch from Himayathnagar water tank to Barkatpura. City roads have become awful,” the MLA said.
Mr Reddy and the BJP activists were arrested by the police and later released. Demanding that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao stop “visualising highways and skyways, and come down to earth”, he said that even newly-laid roads are dug up on one pretext or another. “There is absolutely no coordination between different agencies. One agency lays road and other steps in to dig them up in no time. Despite my repeated protests, digging of roads continues, especially in my absence in my constituency,” the MLA said. He demanded the government take up re-carpeting of roads in all parts of the city on a war footing.
