Include good manners in education: Governor ESL Narasimhan
Educators from across the country attended the meet.
HYDERABAD: Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan exhorted schools to teach children about the rich history, culture and traditions of the country, about values and ethics and the need to respect their elders.
Speaking after inaugurating a principals' conclave at the Hyderabad Public School on Monday, the Governor said education and academics are two different things and schools should focus on giving education that will transform children into good human beings.
He went on to sing a few lines from the hit track of yesteryears Phoolon ka taaron ka sab ka kehna hai; ek hazaaron mein meri behena hai, to highlight the importance of educating the girl child and how to inculcate the habit of treating girls like boys at school itself.
Educators from across the country attended the meet. Malavika Rajkotia, advocate at the Supreme Court, spoke on 'Child Rights', highlighting the rights a child has and be aware of them.
