Most poll bonds purchased in October
Around 733 bonds worth Rs 401.7 were purchased in a single month of 2018.
Hyderabad: Telangana state has become the fourth largest donor to political parties in the nation, in the form of electoral bonds.
For the financial year 2017-18, since when the bonds were made available, Rs 105.7 crore was donated by the people of the state to political parties.
This was proved true in 2017-18 when 95 per cent of the purchased electoral bonds went to the Bharatiya Janata Party.
During the entire year, the highest purchase of bonds was reported in October.
Around 733 bonds worth Rs 401.7 were purchased in a single month of 2018.
It is important to note that October kick-started the election mode in five states, as the election code was announced. Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana went to the elections in December 2018.
Hyderabad also saw a high purchase of bonds in November, ahead of the Telangana state elections.
Bonds worth Rs 184.2 crore were purchased in the state.
