Venkaiah Naidu turns emotional at mother-in-law's event
Mr Venkaiah Naidu said he was also indebted to her for the love and affection she had shown towards his family.
Nellore: Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu took part in the 10th day ceremony of his mother-in-law Alluru Kousalyamma at Srirampuram in Venkatachalam mandal on Wedne-sday.
Mr Venkaiah Naidu became emotional while recalling his childhood after the demise of his parents and how Kousal-yamma took care of him at that point of time. Mr Venkaiah Naidu said he used to call her as sister and she donned the role of his mother and later agreed to her daughter marrying him despite his humble background.
The Vice-President said she was the caretaker of his family when he went to jail during the Emergency. “She used to assure my family members that I will return from jail when some people spread rumours that I will remain in prison forever,” he added.
Referring to the debate on important issues in progress during the ongoing session of the Rajya Sabha and the need for his presence in the house, Mr Venkaiah Naidu said he had decided attend the ceremony to uphold a tradition.
Mr Venkaiah Naidu said he was also indebted to her for the love and affection she had shown towards his family. He added that he was in touch with his deputy in Rajya Sabha and gave directions from time to time though he was busy with the ceremony.
