First meeting of top AP, Odisha officials discusses pending issues

Vijayawada: The chief secretaries of AP and Odisha conducted their first meeting on Monday to resolve the long-pending ‘Kotia Villages’ issues, using the historic maps available with both the states.
The meeting of the high-level joint committee headed by chief secretaries of both the states was held in virtual mode and the two states are hopeful of ending the Kotia conflict in the coming days.
Andhra Pradesh chief secretary Sameer Sharma said they are hopeful of resolving all long-pending issues through consultations. They have already resolved transport-related issues and hoped to resolve issues linked to energy, water resources, higher education, school education and revenue.
Odisha CS, SC Mahapatra raised the issue of road connectivity to the border villages and asked AP officials to send details of the issues on a priority basis. The officials discussed the Jalaput dam hydroelectric project, the lower Machkhand hydroelectric project and the Balimela dam Chitrakonda hydroelectric project, the Neredi barrage, the Janjavathi reservoir project and the Bahuda water storage issues.
