HYDERABAD: A government teacher died by suicide at Babapur in Bheemgal mandal of Nizamabad district on Sunday. The victim was identified as Saraswathi, a secondary grade teacher in Rahathnagar MPPS who had been transferred to Marlakunta thanda in Gandhari  mandal of Kamareddy district under GO 317.

She is survived by her husband, who is working in the Gulf, and twin children. Saraswathi and her children used to stay with her in-laws at Babapur. The family members lodged a complaint in Bheemgal police station.

Reacting to the incident, TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy said that TRS government was responsible for the untimely deaths of employees for its controversial GO 317. Worried over transfer orders, employees were either dying of cardiac arrest or were dying by suicide. Revanth Reddy appealed to employees not to resort any extreme step and that the Congress would fight against government orders.

Democratic Teachers Federation, state vice-president P. Shanthan, Nizamabad district president M. Balaiah and general secretary R. Rajanna demanded that the government revise the GO 317. The nativity and seniority of the employees should be considered for transfers, they said.
