Nigerian professional attacked in Bowenpally
Sohail is of mixed Nigerian and Indian parentage.
Hyderabad: Close on the heels of the attack on a Nigerian student in the Tolichowki area a few days ago, a Nigerian techie was attacked in Bowenpally area on Monday night.
The incident happened when the 23-year-old youth, E. Sohail, working for a software firm in Begumpet, was walking home after getting down at the bus stop.
Sohail, 23, is a resident of Malani Colony in Bowenpally. His father is a Nigerian, while his mother is of Indian origin.
Eight years ago he came to India from Nigeria and after completing MCA joined a software firm in Begumpet.
On Monday night after work he got down at the Chinnatokatta bus stop and was walking home. When he was a few minutes away from home two bikers came from behind and hit him on the head and neck with their hands and sped away.
He fell down and while he was about to get up the bikers came back to attack him. “I saw them and tried to escape but they abused me. In my eight years in Hyderabad, I have never faced such a situation,” said Sohail.
Later, he rushed home and with the help of some of his friends and filed a complaint with the police.
“We made a general diary entry of the complaint and started investigation. Based on the investigation we will proceed,” said Bowenpally inspector N. Kiran.
It is learnt that Sohail refused to go for a medical examination and also gave a written request that he did not want a case.
The African Students Association is unaware of the incident. “None of our members were beaten up or assaulted as far as we know,” said Association president Omobo-wale Seun Gideon.
