Hamza' meet to create record

MALAPPURAM: A group of Malappuram natives named after Hamza has come up with a unique initiative to organise a record breaking get together of their namesakes in the district. The plan, which was first mooted by a Malappuram based businessman Lovely Hamza Haji several years ago, is going to be a reality by mid March.  “This would be an exceptional event. We first planned a meeting of Hanzas at the Municipal level but the message inviting the namesakes spread like wild fire on social media and Hamzas from different parts of the district approached me requesting make it a district level event,” Haji said. He has also received many calls of expatriate namesakes from Gulf countries.

Haji is now busy gathering as much Hamsa as possible for the event.   The event will be held before March 15 at an auditorium in the town. Haji and his fellow namesakes have started a Whatsapp group as a first step.  “More than 200 namesakes have been registered so far for the meeting. We will also invite authorities of Limca Book of Records if the number of namesakes outdo the number of current record,” Haji says. Besides organising a get together, the group has plans to launch social service initiatives for the society. “There might be many Hamzas who want a healing touch of helping hand. They would be our first priority,” he said.
