Bengaluru traffic woes: Public meeting at traffic police stations on Saturday
The meeting has been convened to elicit public views on better traffic management
BENGALURU: To check road accidents and to smoothen vehicular movement in Bengaluru, it has been decided to hold “Citizen’s Traffic Form Meeting” on Saturday at all traffic police stations in the city from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm.
The meeting has been convened to elicit public views on better traffic management and the views expressed by the participants to be effected as rules. Public are asked to give their best views at the meetings to improve road traffic and can also seek steps initiated by police officials with regard to any of the pending complaints. The meeting is also to bridge better communication between traffic police and the public, said a press release here on Friday.
The meeting assumes significance after Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, a couple of days back, said Bengaluru is the fastest-growing city with 5,000 new vehicles added to the roads daily and need to chalk out short-term and long-term plans to deal with vehicular movement of the city.
Bommai also announced five new traffic police stations in Bengaluru city and assured to provide a DCP, staff, vehicles and needed infrastructure to deal with traffic density of the city.
The Bengaluru Traffic police have been holding "Sanchaa Samparaka Divasa" a programme on every second Saturday of the month to discuss traffic related issues with the public in all traffic police stations. The programme is to create a platform for the public to give suggestions and feedback on traffic related issues.
