Hyderabad: Stung by the support from BJP MLAs to the allegations made by Opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy over the Polavaram project, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said that he was ready to transfer the project to the Centre.

“I will sign the file here itself,” Mr Naidu said, telling the BJP MLAs not to criticise the ruling party and not to behave like the Opposition. Earlier, Mr Reddy had alleged in the Assembly that the TD government is increasing the estimates of the projects for commissions.

He said that the cost of one package in Polavaram project was increased to Rs 74 crore from Rs 23 crore and it was awarded to Bollineni Krishnaiah Company on nomination basis. He alleged that Krishnaiah was the benami of Mr Naidu.

Supporting the allegation, BJP MLA P Vishnu Kumar Raju asked irrigation minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao to give a “straight answer”. Mr Reddy had expressed surprise for increasing the estimates as the prices of diesel and petrol has fallen along with the steel cost and also sand was being supplied free of cost.
