Chennai: No entry for visitors in international terminal

Instructions were given by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security on Monday following which all measures were taken, said an airport source.

Chennai airport continues to be the third among the airports in India in terms of receiving foreign tourists during March 2016.

Chennai: In the wake of a nationwide security alert sounded out by the central government, security measures at Chennai airport have been stepped up and entry of visitors in the international terminal has been restricted till March 12.

“The instructions were given by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security on Monday following which all measures were taken,” said an airport source. Random checking and measures like secondary leather point check (SLPC) is also being conducted.  It may be recalled here that a security alert was given throughout the nation after reports emerged that terrorists from Pakistan had allegedly sneaked into India and are planning to launch attacks.
