Hyderabad: While the excise and enforcement department is concentrating on ganja and bhang peddlers in connection with the Holi festival, traffic police will conduct special drunken drives during the day.

Following the accident records on Holi festivals earlier, the traffic teams are getting ready to organise special checks from 8 am at 60 places in city. Traffic DCP A.V. Ranganath said that nearly 10 traffic police would be deployed at each point.

“Compared to normal days, we have observed that more accidents are taking place on Holi. All the 60 places are unknown to even our teams and we’ll announce them before getting ready for checking. On Holi many people get drunk and behave a little weird on the roads, which lead to road accidents,” he said.
