Belagavi: A war of words has broken out between the politically-influential Jarkiholi brothers. While Small Scale Industries Minister, Ramesh Jarkiholi wants his brother, Satish out of Belagavi politics to make way for the youngest of  his siblings, Lakhan in the next assembly poll, the latter is having none of it.

Rubbishing  the minister’s recent announcement  that Mr Lakhan would contest the next assembly election from his constituency of Yamakanmardi,  Mr Satish  shot back that he  should contest from Gokak,  the constituency that Mr Ramesh represents in the assembly.

"Who is Ramesh to decide on who should contest from which constituency. He seems to have lost his mind. It is only the KPCC which takes a call on such matters based on the performance and ability of candidates and sitting legislators. It is unfortunate that Ramesh is indulging in such tactics. I will contest the next assembly elections from the same Yamakanmardi constituency that  I have  won from twice already by a huge margin. As I know the pulse of people of my constituency, I am sure that I will win more convincingly from this segment in the next assembly election,” Mr Satish asserted.

Differences among the Jarkiholi brothers surfaced after Mr Satish was replaced in the cabinet by Mr Ramesh a few months ago. The rivalry  worsened between them  when it was reported that a tip-off from the MLA  had led to the I-T raid on the minister’s home recently.

According to sources, brothers Ramesh, Lakhan and Balachandra have decided to gang up against Mr Satish in the run- up to the elections.
