Bengaluru: In a sudden move, the government transferred BDA commissioner, Dr Rajkumar Khatri, who  has been made principal secretary, youth empowerment and sports, not considered a very important department.

Water resources principal secretary Rakesh Singh, has been made the new BDA commissioner. Ever since Dr Khatri took over, the BDA was mired in one controversy or the other which included the row over the steel flyover. Sources in the government said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was upset with Dr Khatri for his handling of the steel flyover crisis which ended with the government suspending the project.

Sources said Dr Khatri as BDA commissioner, was under tremendous pressure and therefore could not take stringent measures to check rampant corruption in the BDA. A few honest engineers who came to BDA on deputation, felt disillusioned with the developments and even went back to their parent departments a month ago, sources explained.
