Thirty-two people were arrested and Rs 13.90 lakh cash and other paraphernalia were seized from the spot.
BENGALURU: A departmental inquiry has been ordered against the inspector and other staff of the K.R. Puram police station after a Central Crime Branch team raided a gambling camp in an open ground on Friday, Ugadi day.
Thirty-two people were arrested and Rs 13.90 lakh cash and other paraphernalia were seized from the spot. The raid was conducted in Muniyappa Layout late on Friday evening, just 200 metres from the K.R. Puram police station.
The gambling camp was organised on the occasion of Ugadi and a shamiana was put up in an open ground just 200 metres away from the police station.
The owner of the ground, Yellappa, too has been arrested. The police are on the lookout for the organisers, who fled the spot soon after the raid started.
“As the camp was being organised so close to the police station, an internal inquiry has been ordered against the inspector and the other crime staff. Camp organisers, Thirumal Reddy and Ganesh, are on the run and efforts are on to nab them,” said N. Satish Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East).
