Chhattisgarh: Rs 40 lakh recovered from pillow

It appears someone had hurriedly thrown the money bag on spotting us, police said.

When the ACB or the Vigilance Enforcement wing completes an inquiry, the government is supposed to accept it and act accordingly within a month.

Raipur: A raid in the house of an engineer at his place of posting in district headquarters town of Korba in Chhattisgarh by anti-graft sleuths on Saturday led to recovery of Rs 40 lakh stashed in a pillow cover in his backyard, police said.

The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) of Chhattisgarh police conducted raids in the house of executive engineer in-charge of Prime Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Korba district S.N.Pathak and reportedly recovered properties disproportionate to his known sources of income, a member of the raid party said.

Interestingly, the raid party recovered a pillow cover stashed with Rs 40 lakh abandoned in the backyard of the house. “It appears someone had hurriedly thrown the money bag on spotting us,” police said.

The anti-graft sleuths have so far recovered documents establishing possession of immovable assets including three houses, a hotel and cash over Rs two lakh.
