At present, the High Court is functioning with 25 judges of which two would be retiring in May, 2016.
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court Advocates Association on Saturday asked Chief Justice of India Justice T.S. Thakur to take steps for establishing a separate High Court for AP in the temporary buildings in AP capital region that are scheduled to be ready by June 15, 2016.
Association president Gandra Mohan Rao and secretary V. Ramakrishna Reddy met the CJI on his visit to the city to attend the 14th All India Legal Services Meet and submitted a memorandum requesting him to take steps for a separate High Court for AP and also appointment of judges for the High Court.
They brought to the notice of the CJI that the AP government planned to relocate its Secretariat and Assembly from Hyderabad to the state’s capital region by June 15, 2016 and the AP Chief Minister was functioning from Guntur-Vijayawada since the past several months.
They said that it appears the administration of the High Court is not interested in establishing a separate High Court for AP till permanent capital is constructed in AP.
They informed the CJI that sanctioned strength of the Hyderabad High Court was 49 and the same was increased to 61 recently. At present, the High Court is functioning with 25 judges of which two would be retiring in May, 2016.
