Battle lines not clear in Telangana for 2019 elections
A new political alliance is expected to fight with the TRS.
Hyderabad: For the ensuing general elections, battle lines have been cleared by political parties in Andhra Pradesh but in Telangana, it is not yet clear.
In Andhra Pradesh, for the first time, Telugu Desam is going to fight alone in the next elections. There will be multi-corner fight among TD, YSRC, BJP, Congress and Jana Sena with the Left parties but the main fight will be between the TD and the YSRC.
After the emergence of Telangana Jana Samiti, floated by TJAC chairman Prof. Kodandaram, a new political alliance is expected to fight with the TRS in Telangana.
After snapping ties with the BJP and Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan’s decision to contest in the next election on its own, the ruling TD has been forced to fight alone in the next elections. In the previous elections in 2014, the TD had an alliance with the BJP and Pawan Kalyan had supported the BJP and TD alliance.
Main Opposition YSRC, BJP and Congress will also fight alone. The Left parties — CPI and CPM — have decided to sail with the Jana Sena in the next elections. CPM and CPI will have seat adjustments with the Jana Sena.
After its debacle in the previous elections, the Congress did not recover in AP till now.
Due to the state bifurcation, the Andhra Pradesh people expressed their anger on the Congress and it did not won even a single Assembly seat in the previous elections. BJP has no strength to fight on its own in all 175 Assembly seats.
Jana Sena and Left pa-rties combination will gi-ve a fight in some Ass-embly segments. Particularly in the Kapu belt areas, mostly in East and West Godavari districts, Jana Sena and Left parties will give a competition to the TD and the YSRC. In these areas, there will be triangle fight among the TD, YSRC and Jana Sena and in other areas, there will be a straight fight between the TD and YSRC.
In Telangana, the TRS will fight alone and there will be a multi-corner contest in the state. In Hyde-rabad city, TRS will have an understanding with the MIM. However, the main fight will be between the TRS and the Congress.
The Left parties have decided to go with the Jana Sena in Telangana also if it contests in the state. Otherwise, the Left parties may prefer to go with Telangana Jana Sa-miti or the Congress.
Compared to AP, the BJP has some strong pockets in Telangana. Some political parties want to form a grand alliance comprising the Congress, Left parties and Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) to fight with the TRS.
Political circles say that the alliance between the TJS and Congress is not possible as both want power. Seat adjustment between these two parties is really difficult.
