Alappuzha: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that there was a growing trend of taking selfies in dangerous places. While inaugurating the newly established fire station of the Kerala Fire and Rescue Services at Aroor on Monday, he said, “Our aim is to provide the services of rescue personnel at the earliest. But at the same time, there is a need to think whether we are slipping into a culture of inviting accidents”.

Mr. Vijayan said that the Fire and Rescue Services department would be transformed into a major force capable of dealing with any emergency situation.  “We should not remain impassive in the face of a tragedy. The government will provide awareness and proper training to the public and rescue services personnel to deal with emergencies,” the chief minister.

A.M. Ariff MLA presided over the function. District Panchayat president G. Venugopal, District Panchayat vice president Daleema Jojo, Fire and Rescue Services director general Tomin J. Thachankary and others attended the function.
