HYDERABAD: The state government has decided to purchase paddy from farmers for MSP (minimum support price) in the ongoing rabi (yasangi) season by setting up paddy procurement centres, like every year.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar issued orders to this effect on Sunday. He directed Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari and civil supplies commissioner V. Anil Kumar to take steps for setting up nearly 7,000 procurement centres on a war-footing. He instructed Santhi Kumari to hold a video conference with all collectors on Monday to prepare an action plan for paddy procurement.
