Telangana: Survey for new taps delayed, Water Board blames glitch'
The Water Board said that it would install kiosks at all the section offices for uploading the details of the survey every day.
Hyderabad: The survey for the new water connections in Kukatpally twin circles is delayed for a week due to some technical issues, as also to the burden of other works on field staff and lack of facility to upload survey details at day’s end.
Following the setting up of the new water reservoirs, officials plan to provide new water connections to 7,852 houses at Kukatpally, KPHB, Phase-15, Hydernagar, Alwynn Colony, Balanagar, Fathenagar, Old Bowenpally etc. under Kukatpally Circle 14A, and in a few colonies under circle 14B.
Officials have taken up a survey for identifying connections under the Rs 1 category etc. on April 22. The deadline for the survey is May 31. As per the schedule, each team should cover at least 20 houses on the door-to-door survey and upload the details by the day’s end. So far, officials have conducted surveys at only 707 houses.
Officials say the burden of other works will be borne by field-level staff, and the assistants (self help group members) are engaged with other works. “As per the target, we should complete the works before summer and provide drinking water to these colonies. We have already completed the pipeline works at Raghavendra Society, Ambedkarnagar and the JNNURM colony. We are gearing up the survey and expediting the works on lying of pipelines,” they said.
