Fitness Certificate for 7 school vehicles cancelled in Salem

As part of state-wide inspection of safety measures in school vehicles, a special camp was conducted at Omalur on Wednesday.

Totally, 139 vehicles were checked from 30 private schools in Omalur limit and of this seven vehicles were announced not fit and FC cancelled.

Salem: Transport officials cancelled Fitness Certificate (FC) for seven school vehicles at Omalur in Salem following an inspection on Wednesday. As part of state-wide inspection of safety measures in school vehicles, a special camp was conducted at Omalur on Wednesday.

A team of officials led by Mettur RDO  Ramadurai, DSP Annadurai and vehicle inspector Murugeshan conducted inspection on safety measures in vehicles. The operation condition, fire extinguisher, break, tyres, emergency exit and first aid box were checked. Totally, 139 vehicles were checked from 30 private schools in Omalur limit and of this seven vehicles were announced not fit and FC cancelled.

Meanwhile, speaking at review meeting on road safety awareness, district collector Rohini R Bhajibhakare, said, “As many as 2204 school and college vehicles to checked under the drive. So far 500 vehicles were inspected at first phase and it would conducted continuously. The vehicles, which are not equipped with required safety measures, FC would be cancelled. After repairing them, it will be permitted. Medical check-up camp also will be organised for drivers.” Following the meeting, hand books on road safety were given to drivers of school vehicles.
