H D Kumaraswamy yellidiyappa? K S Eshwarappa slams CM for absence, neglect of drought
Governance in the state has derailed because he is never in Bengaluru to chair meetings, charged Eshwarappa.
Bengaluru: First, he was trolled during Lok Sabha elections for calling out to his son ‘Nikhil yellidiyappa?’
Now, leaders of BJP, the principal Opposition, are posing a similar question to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy for not rushing to the aid of those facing acute scarcity of water and fodder in drought-hit areas across the state.
‘Kumaraswamy yellidiyappa?’ asked senior BJP leader K S Eshwarappa and his party colleagues at a news conference here on Thursday while hauling the state government over coals for not reviewing scarcity conditions, and mocked at the Chief Minister for keeping away from the state capital to spend more time offering pooja in temples across the state and in neighbouring states, or recuperating in resorts. “Governance in the state has derailed because he is never in Bengaluru to chair meetings,” he charged.
Mr Eshwarappa and his colleagues pointed out that he spent considerable amount of time in resorts and on pilgrimage along with his father and JD(S) president H D Deve Gowda at the end of two phases of voting in the state, returning to Bengaluru as recent as Wednesday to chair a meeting on implementation of the loan waiver scheme, and another with officials of BMRCL.
Meanwhile, sources in the Chief Minister's Office indicated that Mr Kumaraswamy could check into a resort in Kodagu soon evidently to stave off pressure from Congress leaders with whom he was upset for not supporting his son, Nikhil, during Lok Sabha elections in Mandya constituency.
