Rajinikanth saar beats dinos at city theatre, Jurassic fans fume
Cinema hall screens Kaala instead of sci-fi flick, blames booking site for error.
Bengaluru: The audience who were at the edge of their seats ready to watch the Jurassic Park movie were in for a shock when, instead of dinosaurs, Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth sprang up on the screen on Saturday.
Vinod Kumar, a diehard fan of the Jurassic Park series, was taunted and teased by his wife and children when the bullets in the form of neon lights started spelling out 'Superstar' Rajinikanth on the 70mm screen with the classical background score. At first, Vinod thought it was a trailer of Kaala and was still waiting for the Jurassic Park movie to start, but all that he could watch was 'Kaala'. "I had promised to take my family for the Jurassic Park movie on Saturday. Excited, I had booked the afternoon show and we went to Urvashi Theatre as it is near my house. But to my bad luck, I had to return home without watching the movie as the theatre screened Kaala," said Vinod. The sudden change of movie created chaos at the theatre. The management apologised to the audience saying it was a mistake and not intentional. A Urvashi Theatre employee told Deccan Chronicle, "It was a technical error which happened through Bookmyshow.com. People who had booked tickets online on Friday for Saturday were issued the wrong tickets. It was only after the movie started that we realised our mistake."
He said that over 150 people had booked the tickets for Jurassic Park movie. "Today, when the screening started, we saw many walking out of the theatre. Chaos prevailed for sometime inside the theatre. We, however, promised them that their money would be refunded. By tomorrow, the theatre will refund the money," he said.
When asked whether the theatre is screening the movie 'Kaala', he answered in the affirmative.
Meanwhile Balachandar, a techie who wanted to book the tickets for the Rajini-starrer, was shocked to see only the posters of Jurassic Park movie at Urvashi. But he was left wondering why policemen had been posted outside the theatre for the nobn-controversial English movie. As he was not sure, Balachandar decided to shelve his plans of watching Kaala at Urvashi and went away as he didn't see any superstar's posters or cutouts at the theatre.
