New Delhi: After a minor reshuffle on Friday, the Congress is all set to go in for a major overhaul of the AICC to prepare for the upcoming Assembly elections as well as the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. As many as 10 states will likely get new AICC incharges and new state unit chiefs. This will be the first major reshuffle since Mallikarjun Kharge took over as party chief.

The incharge of Goa and Tamil Nadu Dinesh Gundurao has been made a minister in the newly formed Karnataka government. His replacement is a certainty now. Similarly, H.K. Patil, who is in charge of Maharashtra, has also been made a minister in the Karnataka government. These three states are expected to get new incharges almost immediately.

Meanwhile, the Gujarat incharge and former Rajasthan minister Raghu Sharma has also expressed his desire to quit. The party has appointed Shaktisinh Gohil as the new state unit chief and the appointment of a new incharge is also expected.

Deepak Babaria, who has been appointed in charge of Delhi and Haryana, is also a temporary arrangement, so new leaders may come in. Incharges of Uttarakhand, Tripura, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab will also see a change. Devendra Yadav, who has had many complaints against him in Uttarakhand, is expected to be dropped. Same is the case of Harish Chaudhary in Punjab, he wants to go to his home state of Rajasthan and contest Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, after changing state unit chiefs in Mumbai, Gujarat and Puducherry, the next round is on the cards. Anil Chaudhary of Delhi, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary of West Bengal and the chiefs of Jharkhand and Odhisha may also see a change.

The Congress president is also keen to announce a formal working committee soon. The AICC session in Nagpur had authorised the President to pick his working committee. It is expected to be announced before the monsoon session of Parliament.
