AP government had allocated Rs 8,000 crore to better road connectivity to villages
The minister said that the government would lay roads to all panchayats with the financial support of NABARD.
Chittoor: Panchayat Raj minister Ayyanna Patrudu on Saturday said that the state government had allocated Rs 8,000 crore for providing better road connectivity for villages across the state.
Participating as chief guest in the second anniversary celebrations of the Chittoor Zilla Parishad executive committee, the minister said that the government would lay roads to all panchayats with the financial support of NABARD.
Under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), the minister said that the government would lay CC roads in all panchayats.
As part of the programme, the government had already laid 4,500 km of CC, with the remaining 3,000 km of the road to be completed in a phased manner.
The minister said that the state government would spend Rs 850 crore on the drinking water problem in 13,000 panchayats.
He said that the government would release Rs 15 lakhs for the construction of buildings for panchayats and Rs 10 lakhs for Anganwadi buildings. These constructions would be taken up under the NREGS, he said.
The minister also promised to release Rs 10 lakhs for the development of burial grounds. Committing to the development of SC/ST communities, Mr Patrudu said that the state government had allocated Rs 1,250 crore in the budget for an SC/ST sub-plan.
He said that the SC/ST sub-plan funds would be utilised for providing basic amenities and infrastructure facilities in villages where SC/STs predominantly lived.
