7 dead after boat capsizes in Nagpur's Vena Dam, rescue operations to resume tomorrow

Nagpur: Five bodies that went missing after a boat capsized in Vena Dam on Sunday were recovered by a research and rescue team on Monday. The hunt for three more people in underway.

As many as eight youths were drowned when their boat capsized in the Vena Dam, situated around 25 kilometers from Nagpur on Sunday.

A total of 11 people had come for a joy ride on Sunday evening when the mishap took place. However, the remaining three were able to escape.

"Two teams are here for rescue operations. Few boys had come for picnic. They took fishing boat that capsized," Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) Nagpur Suresh Bhoyat said.

"We will take help from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF)," he added.
