Hyderabad police ramps up Bonalu security
A section of the police is focusing on 75 extremely sensitive areas and procession routes by installing special pickets.
Hyderabad: Besides the usual security arrangements for the Bonalu celebrations, the city police will deploy extra forces like SHE teams, personnel in plain clothes, Quick Reaction Teams and squads to catch chain snatchers at important parts of the city.
A section of the police is focusing on 75 extremely sensitive areas and procession routes by installing special pickets. Police has installed extra CCTV cameras and mobile cameras to improve surveillance.
According to senior police officials, 3,000 personnel will be deployed in twin cities alone. Two companies of Rapid Action Force will also be available for the main festival next week.
The police would guard the 282 temples where the celebrations are taking place. “Among them 19 temples located in the Old City are important as they are located in sensitive areas. Six temples in Chatrinaka, nine in Moghalpura, two in Mir Chowk, one in Hussaini Alam, and one in Shahali-banda are given extra security,” a senior police official from the South Zone said.
Liquor shops in Secunderabad will remain closed till July 11.
