Over 70 bajrang dal activists held in Hyderabad

Police has arrested more than 70 activists from Trimulgherry, Gandhinagar and other areas of the city.

Hyderabad: The Bajrang Dal activists started protests in different parts of the city after the arrest of some of their activists in front of the house of Kakinada Sri Peetham seer Swami Paripoornananda on Monday. Police has arrested more than 70 activists from Trimulgherry, Gandhinagar and other areas of the city.  Another 27 were picked from LB Nagar crossroads for halting traffic. 

Speaking to this newspaper, city Bajrang Dal in-charge Vishal Prasad Ganesh Lal said the activists were just standing outside the house and were about to launch a protest to spread awareness among Hindus about the Ramayana. Condemning the critic’s comments against Lord Rama and Sita, VHP and Bajrang Dal activists targeted around 30 places in the city and burnt his effigies at some locations.

“Regional channels have been repeatedly telecasting the clip of Mahesh speaking ill of our gods and deities. We had planned to block website, download the channel’s app and disconnecting it. According to our sources, thir TRP has gone down,” Mr Prasad, adding that the ultimate aim was to stop people from tuning into the channels spreading such news.
