NIA raid unearths explosives in Bengaluru
The raid was carried out following the leads from Rehman, a prime accused in a 2014 blast in Burdwan, West Bengal.
Bengaluru: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has recovered hand grenades, timer and other explosive substances from a house in Chikkabanavara, which was earlier rented by Habibur Rehman, a Jamat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) member, currently in NIA custoday.The raid was carried out following the leads from Rehman, a prime accused in a 2014 blast in Burdwan, West Bengal. Two people died in the blast and Rehman has been on the run.
He was arrested from Doddaballapura in Rama—nagara on June 25, 2019. A day later, two live bombs were also recovered under a bridge on a storm water drain in Ramanagara.
According to NIA, during the raid at the house in Chikkabanavara they seized five fabricated hand grenades, one timer device, three electric circuits, suspected explosive substance, different components for making IEDs/rockets and several other incriminating materials
