Vellore girl falls from Auto, dies
Dhivya, who sustained a grievous injury on the head and chest area, was rushed to the Ambur government hospital.
Vellore: A seven-year-old girl riding on an auto died after she came under the wheels of the auto near Ambur, Vellore on Tuesday morning. The deceased identified as M.Dhivya Karasi (7) was a class second student of the Hindu primary school in the neighbourhood. Police said Dhivya's parents Muthuswamy and Padhmavathy were daily-wage workers and lived in Malligaithoppu area in Ambur with their son 10-year-old son and daughter Dhivya.
According to police, on Tuesday morning, share auto driver Karthick of Thuthipatti picked up the brother-sister duo and 15 other kids from the area to drop them at the school. Sources said as the road to school was bumpy due to the Hogenakkal joint water scheme, Dhivya sitting on the front seat with the auto driver Karthick was thrown out of the vehicle and came under the rear wheel of the auto, police said.
Dhivya, who sustained a grievous injury on the head and chest area, was rushed to the Ambur government hospital, where she died without responding to the treatment. On being informed Ambur police visited the hospital and registered a case against the driver. The police arrested the auto driver and began investigations.
