Chennai: A transgender has approached Madras high court to direct Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission to cancel the main written examinations conducted on July 29, 30 and 31, 2016 for Group-I services under the government of Tamil Nadu and conduct fresh main written examination in a transparent manner requiring evaluators to value the marks obtained by the candidates on the answer sheet itself.

Justice S.M. Subramaniam before whom the petition filed by S. Swapna came up for hearing, directed the petitioner to implead a private satellite TV channel and commissioner of police, Chennai, as respondents in the case and posted to August 16, further hearing of the case.

According to petitioner, she applied to the post of Group-I services and cleared the preliminary examination. Thereafter, she appeared for the main written examination conducted on July 29, 30 and 31, 2016.

However, to her utter shock, she did not clear the examination. She sought copy of her answer sheet under the RTI Act but the same was denied.

In the meanwhile, to her shock and confirming her fear of massive malpractice in the TNPSC office, a programme was telecast in a private satellite TV channel relating to leakage of answer sheets.

The modus operandi as reported in the programme was that blank unanswered pages from answer sheets, were surreptitiously removed out and the corrupt candidates were permitted to fill the same and then these answer sheets were inserted into the main answer books.
