Kadapa: Kadapa district joint collector Midde Gowthami has directed authorities to take special security measures at reservoirs and other water-related tourism places. She pointed out that all reservoirs and major rivers in the district are overflowing due to heavy rains in the current season. As a result, tourists are visiting these places and some of them are even venturing near the waters. Gowthami said having proper security will prevent mishaps from occurring.

The joint collector had earlier participated in the Spandana programme and received complaints from public. She directed authorities to resolve their issues in a timely manner.

SP Nagendra Kumar Anburajan, who also participated in another Spandana programme at district police office, also received complaints from people of the district. These have been forwarded to concerned police stations for their resolution.

Two girls drown in KC Canal

Meanwhile, two girls of Sanjeev Reddipalli village in Rajupalem mandal of Kadapa district drowned in KC Canal on Monday.

According to Duvvur police sub-inspector Kamarthy Chapala Raju, the girls – Bandi Malleswari (12) and Iragamreddy Radha (11) – had gone to fields together for grazing cattle. They entered the KC Canal for a swim but got swept away as the velocity of water was high.

Their bodies have been fished out. Police have registered a complaint and are investigating.
