Hyderabad Man Gets 5 Year RI in POCSO Case
Hyderabad: The Special Judge for PoCSO cases at Medchal D Venkatesham on Wednesday sentenced D Mahesh Prakash, accused of sexually abusing two girls at Alwal in May 2020, to rigorous imprisonment for five years. The girls, who were four years of age at the time of the incident, detailed before the court how the accused abused them, resulting in his conviction. The accused who was then arrested, remained in jail and was not granted bail by the court. The court completed the trial and delivered the judgement with the accused remaining in judicial custody.
On the day of the offence, when the girls, both neighbours, were playing outside their homes, the accused noticed them and took them into his home and abused them sexually. Two days later, when he called them to his home, the girls did not go. One of the girl’s mothers noticed this and asked the girl about why she was not going.
At this time, the girl confided in her mother how the accused sexually abused her and also her friend. On a complaint from the parents, Alwal police registered a case and arrested the accused. Subsequently a charge sheet was filed in the court and the court took up the trial.
