Karnataka child rights panel plans study on impact of mobile phones on children
Kalaburagi: The Karnataka State Commission for Child Rights (KSCPCR) has laid out plans to conduct a comprehensive study to analyze the impacts of mobile phone use on the mental and physical health of children and to explore strategies to curb mobile phone addiction among them.
Giving details of the study KSCPCR Chairman K Naganna Gowda while addressing a press conference in Kalaburagi said that 10 teams comprising of doctors, parents, and psychiatrists have been formed, to gather insights from 300 experts in the field.
Naganna highlighted the concerning rise in use of mobile phones among children, noting that mobile phones have become serious threat than the coronavirus.
"The teams will embark on a comprehensive state-wide study spanning three months, following which they will submit a report. Subsequent action will be taken based on the findings of the report," Naganna added.
He emphasized the critical role of sports and cultural activities in a children's holistic development alongside academic pursuits. During the review meeting of officials, directives were issued to formulate programmes in this direction.
