Vijayawada: The Vijayawada city police and higher officials drew criticism for  blocking the Bandar Road on Saturday.

The Road was blocked to conduct air force selections, without providing an alternate route to the commuters causing severe inconvenience to them.

Even minister Devineni Umamahes-wara Rao, Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishna Murthy, Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar and other officials got caught up in the traffic snarl on their way to attend the Cabinet meeting in the Secretariat at Velagapudi.

The police failed in streamlining the traffic making it tough for the students and employees to reach the destinations.

Reacting to criticism, Vijayawada city police chief Goutam Sawang told the officials not to organise the rally  on September 11 on Bandar Road.

Meanwhile, as it was very  hot this morning, aspirants had a tough time sitting for long in the open.

During the selection process, a few students fell unconscious while running in the hot sun and they were provided medical aid.
