Bengaluru: The family of Gauri Lankesh want just one thing - bringing her killers to justice. Unconfirmed reports indicate that Gauri's mother Indira and the slain journalist's sister Kavitha who met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday reportedly told him that it made little difference to them whether the state's SIT or the central CBI probed the case. For them, the truth should come out in the murder of journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh.

And speaking to reporters after meeting the mother and the sister of Gauri here, Mr Siddaramaiah on Saturday said much the same thing - that Gauri should receive justice, adding that the state government was putting in every effort to nab the perpetrators.

Sources close to the investigation said that the CM had made solving the Gauri Lankesh case his top priority as not solving it would be used by the opposition BJP to shame his government on its policing and law and order. Handing over the probe to the CBI would ensure that the central agencies deflected blame from the right-wing, sources close to the CM said.
