Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau nabs lineman taking bribe

Hyderabad: A lineman working with the electricity department has been caught by sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday while accepting a bribe of Rs 28,000 to fix a meter at a complainant’s house in Shamshabad.
According to the ACB, a complaint had been received from a resident of Ootapally village in Shamshabad mandal that Kasi Ramulu, a lineman working with the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Corporation Ltd at Peddashapur, had demanded money from him to fix an electricity meter inside his newly constructed house.
Earlier, the lineman had demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 20,000 to fix a temporary meter and install it inside the house. For giving a permanent connection, he demanded Rs 28,000 more. Kasi Ramulu was caught red-handed while accepting this bribe from the complainant in front of a hotel at Thondupally at 12.58 pm on Monday. The accused is being placed under arrest and would be produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Hyderabad.
