60,000 cusecs being released from Somasila
In all, 60,400 cusecs are being released from Somasila as against the inflow of 51,000 cusecs as of Friday evening
Nellore: With heavy rains lashing Karnataka and Rayalaseema regions, Penna river is in spate and the inflows into Somasila project crossed 50,000 cusecs mark by Friday evening.
In view of sharp increase in the inflow, project officials have been releasing 52,000 cusecs through five crust gates and 7,900 cusecs to Kandaleru dam.
In all, 60,400 cusecs are being released from Somasila as against the inflow of 51,000 cusecs as of Friday evening.
According to project officials, the flood flow is to the extent of 46,500 at Adinimmayapalle medium anicut.
Officials said that nine gates of Mylavaram reservoir were opened to release 37,500 cusecs into Penna river due to heavy inflows into Mylavaram from Chitravati river.
Project officials also advised the revenue officials to alert the people living close to the banks of Penna river about the increase in the release of water.
