Telangana: Bus conductor under lens for social posts
He also criticised the government stating that the TS assisted RTC by sanctioning funds.
Hyderabad: Officials of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation have written to the Karimnagar zone vigilance officer seeking of a probe against a bus conductor who posted messages on social media that were anti-government and Chief Minister of Telangana State.
The conductor from Nizamabad-I depot, D. Sanjeev, had started a social media campaign against the government during the recently concluded Singareni union elections (which the government-backed union won), alleging that the government would cheat Singareni workers as it had not stood by the promises made to RTC workers.
He also criticised the government stating that the TS assisted RTC by sanctioning funds and on the other hand it had deployed more buses from outside on hire.
Following complaints against Sanjeev the depot manager wrote to RTC’s Karimnagar zone vigilance and security officer suggesting that action be taken against Mr Sanjeev and till the completion of the probe, the conductor will be put on either depot spare or suspended.
RTC unions have naturally criticised this heavy-handed action of the management, since Mr Sanjeeva was just exercising his Constitutional right to Freedom of Speech.
