Parents say son killed by family of girlfriend
Police have registered a case of suspicious death, but some villagers allege that it was a revenge killing.
Karimnagar: The parents of Gaddi Kumar, 22, whose body was found in the cotton fields near Vankayagudem village on the outskirts of Thadikal, alleged that their son was killed by the parents of a girl of the same village with whom Vijay Kumar had fallen in love.
Gaddi Kumar belonged to the Golla community and the girl to the toddy tappers community. Her parents objected to the relationship and according to Kumar's parents, had warned Kumar a few days ago that they would kill him if he did not stop seeing the girl. His parents say the police ignored their plea that their son's life was in danger.
In 2013 the police had booked a case against Kumar under the Criminal Law (amendment) Act, 2013, after the parents of the girl filed a missing person's complaint. The girl was a minor. Kumar was sent to jail a year ago. The parents and relatives of Kumar staged a rasta roko on the Warangal road on Tuesday demanding that the state government punish the persons behind the killing of Kumar. Traffic came to a halt on the main road with the rasta roko.
Kumar's parents say their son and the girl were planning to get married after she turned 18. Police have registered a case of suspicious death, but some villagers allege that it was a revenge killing.
They obstructed the police when they visited the village and pelted stones at the police vehicle and tried to attack sub inspector Satyanarayana.
The situation was tense and additional police were deployed in the village to bring the situation under control.
